WOOL
Often airing out the garment is all that's needed to restore a fresh look and smell of the wool. In order to do so air flat on a towel or hang woven garments on a hanger in fresh air. Refresh them by hanging them in a steamy bathroom or, if needed, iron them with steam, or better, a damp cloth on the wool setting. Wool can be washed if needed but doesn't have to. Woven garments can be brushed with a soft garment brush to get rid of dust and dirt. Liquids can be dabbed off carefully with a damp cloth or sponge. If you decide to wash the garment, use cold water and hand wash with very little detergent [preferably wool detergent]. Dry flat on a towel away from direct sunlight.
