June 1st, 2024 in Healdsburg, CA
Join me for this 3-hour visible mending class. Bring your own worn-out garments or home goods and learn how to fix them with sashiko and boro mending techniques or make a few patches to use for future mending projects.
What to expect in this workshop -
- You will learn about the importance of repairing and reusing textile goods
- You will get an introduction into the history of sashiko and boro, how to distinguish different styles of sashiko stitching and we will discuss ideas of how to implement these ancient techniques in your daily life
- Nicole will share her favorite tools and materials and guide you through the basic embroidery techniques used throughout the workshop
- You will learn how to transfer patterns onto your fabric, how to prepare your damaged garment or home good for the repair process and how to patch with interior and exterior patches using the sashiko embroidery technique.

This is a class for anyone interested in mending with sashiko and boro and loves to hand stitch or would love to learn to. No basic stitching knowledge necessary.
